The Chimaera was first produced in 1993. The name was derived from Chimera, the monstrous creature of Greek mythology, which was made from the parts of multiple animals. It was designed by Peter Wheeler, John Ravenscroft and Peter’s dog Ned, who rumour has it, designed the front indicator recess.
The car was based on the Griffith’s running gear and chassis, and was fitted with a slightly softer suspension set up, with Bilstein dampers and a rear anti-roll bar. This made the Chimera the perfect GT cruiser and fabulous all-round sports car.
This particular car has been owned and fastidiously maintained for the last 20 years by a true TVR enthusiast, always garaged and never used in the wet.
Registered in 1994, and with only 33,000 miles, this Chimaera is fitted with the desirable 4.3 litre V8. With a short production run the 4.3 Chimaera is particularly rare and it is widely acknowledged that these 4.3 V8’s sound wonderful with a deep baritone throb so sadly lacking in the later cars. This car is also benefits from having the later T5 gearbox which provides a short and sporty throw.
Finished in Stunning Mica Blue Metallic with Wedgewood Grey Full Hide Interior, this 1994 Chimaera presents beautifully having covered such low mileage.
The service history folder is a particular highlight with neatly filed invoices in date order showing diligent maintenance throughout the cars life dating all the way back to the cars original purchase invoice, which demonstrates unequivocally that this car has been maintained to the highest of standards thought it’s life.
We have maintained this car since 2011, and in the last 2000 miles we have serviced her and carried out a full front end repaint to remove some light stone rash which these cars suffer from. Before delivery to her new owner, she will be fully prepared in our workshop and supplied with a new 12 month MOT.
In Summary: A very low mileage Chimaera with a fully documented service history fitted with the rare 4.3 engine in a great colour combination with a full hide interior and prepared to the highest standard.
This is not the cheapest Chimaera out there but the best ones rarely are.
